Normally “Magnetic Interference” is showing on the controller when you are to near something metallic?.
I get it on my Controller in my driveway, just from the car being near me!.
Just wondered if they got a magnetic pulse generator.
The “Magnetic Interference” message is really a strange one. Totally unfathomable sometimes.
A 10 ton rated manhole cover was my steel platform test … and made no difference. No warnings, etc.
That’s also 2.5 tons of Shogun ironmongery (with MOT challenging rust!) within 1m to the left.
Reinforced concrete is the one they seem most intolerant … which is a shame, because The Ordnance Survey have built some perfect launch pads trig-points in some perfect locations around the country.
I’ve given up understanding it - and I certainly don’t waste my time recalibrating anything (because it changes nothing!).
Usually moving ten metres is all that’s needed.
Yeah. Different alloys of steel behave in different ways. I’m definitely no expert. Depends on thickness too. The metal can guide the path of the flux etc. Also no experience with dji’s. Just trying to figure out what they did in Norfolk. Very interesting.
A degree in drones!
The thickness of rebar in most reinforced concrete (and certainly in trig-points that have their innards exposed) is nowhere near that of the manhole cover thickness … ~ 1 cm!
Take-off 1.85m higher.
Yes. The flux escapes a thin metal and could interfere. Would be an interesting experiment.
Just moving a few feet is quicker.
I’ve used a flux meter around things that have prevented me taking off … it’s shown almost no variation from somewhere nearby that’s been fine.
Strange. It’s possible that the interference has nothing to do with what was going on in Norfolk lol
@Rob , I think the only way to try and figure this one out, is for me to meet you at the same place, at a time next week at your convenience, if you are up for it.
I will bring a variety of my drones, Air ,Mavic Pro, Mavic 2 Pro and we will see what happens.
Weather next week is suppose to be fairly good in our area.
As I mentioned - it’s unfathomable. I’ve spent over 5 years trying to work it out.
I’ve taken off from the bonnet of my Shogun, but not been able to take off from the roof … although I can the glass sunroof.
Will a fluxmeter take into account 3 axis?
Shame you haven’t a diy drone. They will take off but the hold may toilet bowl. Its a good test of interference. But I suppose by the time its airborne, it doesn’t matter!
Strength, horizontal orientation and inclination … so, yup.
Good plan Chris if it were not for family piling in for the week. There may be a chance Thursday/Friday, need to cross that bridge nearer the time. I’ll certainly be in touch either way
No worries Rob, just a thought, could poss do thurs.
I’ll be in touch near the end of the week Chris & thanks for going the extra mile for me, appreciated Meanwhile two Norfolk brats are screaming their way over to us as I type. If you don’t hear from me again it was nice while it lasted! I kid, they are little angels really - - - now, where’s the play dough, Lego & happy snacks - - - - - - - - - - - -Oh & ear-plugs?
