Ambulances use GPS for finding addresses and locations, necessary when crews are in unfamiliar areas.
And tracked from Ambulance HQ to be able to send nearest vehicle to any given incident.

As I said, I would hope they have a backup / alternative system :grimacing:

Such as a paper map in this example :man_shrugging:

Looking forward to the Mavic Mini Facebook groups lighting up with GPS problems

Jamming trial impacting GNSS (GPS): 7 - 11 September, Wales and SW England

Activity may affect GNSS navigation and precision timing devices including electronic situational awareness devices and UAV’s (drones)

Jamming activity within 5KM of N52° 00’ 53”, W003° 38’ 31” (Sennybridge)

Low Power jamming will take place between 0900-1800 BST and may impact GNSS signals up to and above 40,000FT AMSL within 63NM

High Power jamming will take place between 1200-1800 BST and may impact GNSS signals up to and above 40,000FT AMSL within 122NM in certain directions

Systems relying on GNSS reception may suffer intermittent or total failure.

@Aerialskape your post has been moved to this existing thread.

You also appear to have posted a link to the email notification you received. This is not advisable as it 1) contains click-tracking and 2) allows anyone to unsubscribe your email address from the CAA mailing list.

A safer link to use is one directly to the notification itself:

Jamming trial impacting Short Range Devices and UAS control (not GNSS): 7 – 18 Sep, Salisbury Plain and New Forest

Colour me cynical and paranoid but, with National Trust and English Heritage owning large tracts of Salisbury Plain and the Forestry Commission trying to stop all drone activity in the New Forest, is the purpose of this exercise to prepare for a permanent ban in these areas

I’ve replaced your mailchimp mailing list link (which anyone can click on and then unsubscribe YOU from the CAA mailing lists) with the link to the notification itself.

This is just a jam on anything operating in 2.4 / 5.8.

I don’t think they can selectively block just one specific “item” on a given frequency.

Or can they…?

I received notice through another website off this activity.
If I’m reading this right it’s 55Nm from Luce Bay near Stranraer.
That includes the IOM, almost as far as Glasgow, parts of Norther Cumbria fells almost to Keswick, Northern Ireland including Belfast & Antrim.
That’s a heck of an area & I can’t see the radial on NATS or DRONE SCENE. There is some restrictions around Stranraer & Luce Bay but not 55NM worth.

Am I missing something? Don’t want to fly & then loose control for 2 mins.

NOTICE IS AS FOLLOWS;
Jamming trial date change: 14 Sep - 4 Dec, Luce Bay

Jamming activity impacting electronic situational awareness devices, UAS command systems and GNSS receivers will now take place 14 September – 4 December 2020 in and around Luce Bay.

The activity may affect GNSS receivers along with UAS and cockpit devices operating on 433, 868, 915, 2400, 5800 MHz operating up to 40,000FT AMSL within 55NM of 545020N 045548W (West Freugh).

During the trials impacted systems may suffer intermittent or total failure. Individual events will not exceed 2 minutes in duration with no more than 5 events per hour. Activity will take place in daytime hours between 0830 and 1600.
