Hi all. Would the MA2 fall into this category/course? Don’t want to pay for the course if it’s no good for the MA2. Thanks.
See:
and:
It will allow you to fly your legacy A2 within 150m of residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas (and inside these areas) for 2 years from 1 January 2021 (but not within 50m of people). Unless the rules change. Or the new regs are delayed again. etc.
Without the A2 CofC, you will be able to fly your MA2 pretty much the same places as today i.e. at least 150m outside “congested areas”, although the definition is reworded at the end of the year (“residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas”).
I did my GVC with Heliguy online during August and found it really good- both interesting and enjoyable even to a cynical lag like GreyCat. There were quite a few extra video tutorials- all of which I found very useful to build my knowledge/understanding beyond merely passing an exam. Maybe it’s more orientated towards a commercial user? I also specified some additional one-to-one practical training as part of my learning and I got loads out of that- the trainer was excellent. The support for doing my Ops manual was good too.
When I was sourcing training, I contacted various providers and what stood out was that whilst most of them just wanted to plug me their “standard package” with Heliguy they were responsive to tailoring their offering to what I require to build a specific business stream- which is why I chose them.
So- possibly a case of different strokes for different folks?
(For background- part of my business involves delivering safety-critical training in a highly-regulated sector and I also hold trainer and assessor qualifications- so I’m not unfamiliar with these things).
Hi all, is it worth completing this course with changes coming in?
Thanks.
@Tonyrc1702 your post has been moved to an existing thread in this subject.
A search for cofc also reveals other threads which may be of use.
Well I took the plunge and have started my A2 C of C. Exam is next week, hopefully I’ll get a pass !
Thought I’d do it now while I have time as I don’t expect I’ll be flying just Mini 1 / 2 forever.
Good luck
@Drumsagard thanks, plenty of revision and I should be ok.
Did my online exam for A2CofC yesterday and passed. Quite straight forward. Did the the course with UAVHUB who have a mock exam you can do as many times as you like and they vary the questions for each attempt. Did this numerous times and found the actual exam to be relatively easy even for an old f@rt like me
Don’t think you have much problem as long as you’ve done your revision
Good luck
Hi guys hope all are well and safe, I am just posting with regards the above as I am thinking of doing a course and wonder what benifits that it will give me with a mavic mini.
I down graded my P3 advanced to a MM this year as I am a hobby pilot plus the MM fits better in my motorcycle top box !
Looking at the cost of the A2 CofC (some £99 ! ) I am wondering should I do it and what advantages as a MM pilot its going to give me ?
One point I think it would give is if we are stopped by a nice non angry (I am not sarcastic in any way lol) we would be able to provide more training back up but as with the MM am I going to get more advantages like flying coser to buildings/people/places etc ?
Many many thanks in advance.
Did my A2 Cof C with UAVHUB. Matt has a useful YouTube post that might help explain. Here’s the link.

Hey up @dazer2000 and welcome back.
I’d hold fire on the CofC at the moment, its only going to get cheaper and cheaper.
If you’re only using your Mini there (probably) is no need
Matt is very good mate I dont know if I have seen this one will look, I always look and ask on here as its the best site I have found and less keyboard warriors than others lol
Hi mate good to be back, can I get closer if I have CofC ?
