I’m going to gather some of my holiday drone photos here, including some I haven’t already shared on other threads. I’ll edit in location details as well. These are mostly from Skye, but they’ll probably include a few other places, depending on the weather when we head back south.
First up, Neptune’s Staircase, Fort William. Built by Thomas Telford, it’s the longest flight of locks in Britain.
I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Interesting flight of locks with large free car park and cafe.

This is the Fairy Glen, near Uig, on Skye. There is a group of odd but picturesque hillocks, with a nice little lochan nestling amongst them, and one tall rock formation nicknamed “Castle Ewen”, which can be seen in both these views.

The unusual natural landscape of the Fairy Glen near Uig on Skye.
Car parking is about 400m from the glen, and the walk up is steep and uneven - wear decent boots or walking trainers.
Gets very busy, especially in tourist season - you can see the number of people ther on a Sunday afternoon at 330pm in l…

The Quiraing is a spectacular part of the Trotternish Ridge. We didn’t do the walk, but parked down below and flew the drone up. The sky is badly blown out on the panoramas, but never mind!

The iconic Quirang - a landslip that is still moving towards the sea - on the Trotternish Peninsula on Skye. Lots of amazing rock formations and stunning views over to the mainland and on to Lewis and Harris - if the weather plays ball and the visibility is good.
The site is an SSSI, for the geology, and although …

Mealt Falls and Kilt Rocks. The view of these at ground level is OK. But this is what drones were invented for!

Decent sized car park, which gets busy, but superb views over the waterfall and great VLOS over the water to Kilt Rocks.
No anti-drone signage and on a clear day excellent views, be warned though, when windy the waterfall flows upwards.

The Fairy Pools. A terrible, potholed single-track road, filled with drivers with no common sense. And far too windy to fly, really. But a fantastic place to visit, anyway.

The photogenic Fairy Pools on Skye, within an SSSI for Fauna, but no FRZ and there was no signage prohibiting drones.
The walk is a steep one down - and steeper coming back up - and although states 20 minutes, I would allow at least 2 or 3 hrs for exlporing and flying the drone - watch out for people, as …

An Corran Beach is famous for the dinosaur footprints, which took us some time to find. But there is also some great scenery, especially with the Quiraing in the background, and Staffin Island.
Note the water-filled dinosaur footprint with a drone reflecting in it!

The main attraction here is the megalosaurus dinosaur footprints, which can be seen on a shelf of exposed rock, if the tide is not high. But there are also good views of Staffin Island and back across to the Quiraing.

Sadly my photos from Duntulm Castle suffered from soft focus. I’m not sure if that was because of the very strong winds. I’m including a couple for completeness anyway.

Rha Falls, just outside Uig. See the location link for more information on the difficulty flying here.

Parking is in front of the old police station. From there, walk west along the road until you see a gap in the wall and the sign Uig Woods. It’s a short walk to the waterfall, although with lots of steps.
There are very few level take-off spots for a drone. I took off from a rock, but landed on the main path as it was wider. I couldn’t get enough of a GPS lock in the n…

We did an afternoon walk around the Scorrybreac trail just east of Portree. Several very good spots to fly a drone, with good views back to the harbour.

Today’s set. We visited Dunvegan Castle but didn’t get the chance to fly the drone there. We did go to the Coral Beach a few miles to the north, and I popped the drone up briefly, as it was very windy. I’ve added the location to Drone Scene.

The “coral” beach is actually made of the crushed bleached skeletons of Red Coralline Seaweed, but it’s cool anyway. As well as the beach, there is a small hill, and some nearby islands and islets to photograph.
The road from Dunvegan is single track with some bad potholes, leading to a car park than can be busy, but difficult to manoeuvre in (more potholes). From ther…

A couple more from our morning walk in Portree. I had to stick the Mini 2 in sports mode to get it back, it was very windy.

Today we drove from Skye to Glencoe.
