A CBL filter is a polariser. At sunrise, if you’re shooting toward the sun, a polariser won’t have any polarising effect, but may leave banding - which is what we see here. I think the main use for a polariser is when you’re facing away from the sun, to reduce glare of reflective surfaces. I could be wrong though.
Definitely worth the trip. I would recommend Bamburgh Beach in the winter though if we get one of those frosty mornings. Will be stunning and not too many people around.
