Entry: 18. An Agricultural Tractor - in a field. Still or video

This is from Froxfield, Petersfield, Hampshire, on the 19th August around 11:18 am with a DJI Mini 2.

  • Bonus point if two or more tractors are working in the same field.

Typical, you wait 4 weeks to find more than one tractor in a field and suddenly 27 turn up.

  • Bonus point for 10-second hyperlapse.

Fair warning, anyone suffering from motion sickness should hold onto something before watching this hyperlapse. Not overly proud of this but in my defence a) it’s the first one and b) I know to fly slower next time.

  • 2 bonus points if one tractor’s colour mirrors a daring firefighter’s hue and another reflects the Cheeky Chappie’s audience’s book colour choice

Claiming 1 point for the task and all 4 bonus points (when they get released) please, 5 in total.

Thanks

Fully agree! But the purpose of this exercise is to find the bonus items and show them, So two points.

Once this Birthday Challenge finishes we will be returning to the RTF Competition (Reason to Fly), From a list of member suggestions three are drawn at random. The suggestion with the most votes is adopted for that 14 day session. The object is to take the photograph illustrating that subjectthat will win the most votes from members, So for the rest of the year artistic merit is the determination.

Or you can still enter a picture in the Calendar Competition, illustrating the month of August and, again, judged by your peers …

Now there’s an interesting move. Get as many tractors as possible in a field and hope at least two of them match the cryptic colours  No John Deeres attending the ploughing match then?

Our agricultural judge came over all unnecessary when looking at the still picture and spent a loooong time examining it under high magnification.

Hyperlapse or moving time-lapse (also stop-motion time-lapse, walklapse, spacelapse) is a technique in time-lapse photography for creating motion shots. In its simplest form, a hyperlapse is achieved by moving the camera a short distance between each shot.

Moving a short distance between each shot. Hmmmmm …

The same agricultural judge’s face that was wearing a beaming smile after scrutinising the still turned the colour of a Claas combine after viewing your ultralapse. They have been barricaded in a cubicle for the past twenty minutes talking with Ralph, Bill and Hughie.

You can have your three points.

If you have found the correct cryptic colours a further two points may be added to your score at the end of the Challenge

 , Please pass on my apologies to your incapacitated judge, the sensation passes after a while, I’ll seek to do better next time.

No, no John Deeres at play here, I think they were in a field by themselves.

Thanks

@group-challenges

Whilst Cedric busied himself preparing his Mavic 3 Pro for capturing subject and bonus for item 24 his friends began to regret having volunteered to launch Cedric’s boat …

I’m claiming 2 points for light trails. Not sure Mini SE should be flown at night but found the pro mode and set exposure to 2s, ISO 100. Luckily no wind at all. 4 roads present but almost no traffic!

@Stomper I thought ‘27 turn up’ was a figure of speech but omg, thats a good collection of agricultural hardware!

We aren’t familiar with the SE but are we right in thinking that the only LED that shows is the rear-mounted status light. If so you need to fly it out to the target forwards and back in reverse so that the light is visible (and hence you are maintaining VLOS.

If you intend to do a lot of night flying then lightweight strobe like a Cree is a good investment and will make your aircraft far more visible - and light up most of North Yorkshire - they are BRIGHT!

And for the light trails - 2 points!

Haha, right, I double checked when counting, even with missing out the baby ones in the top of the frame, it’s still a lot, which makes me want to find out now what the collective noun for a bunch of tractors is.

First hit … made me laugh…

“ Whats the collective noun for a group of tractors?
Herd of tractors?
Of course I’ve heard of tractors.”

Our agricultural judge has now been escorted “home” by a couple of kindly but muscular men in white coats. Apparently he was running around the Chall Com bunker screaming “I used to have a career until that swine Stomper sent in that terrible picture. I used to love farm machinery!”

“I’m an ex-tractor fan now!”

A young boy loved tractors. Mad on them, loved everything of them. Posters, models, toys, everything. One day he see’s one in a field and runs over and sits on the sat. The farmer see’s him and shoots lead in his ass. From this point on he hates tractors. He runs home, rips the posters up, throws them in the bin along with all his toys. Many years later he is in a pub. Hates the smoke so inhales and goes outside and exhales, and repeats this over and over again until the smoke in the pub is clear. Someone asked how they did it. He told them he was an Ex Tractor Fan.

3 points for the bandstand, just the one for the two-masted vessel, It’s actually up for sale at the moment for slightly more than pocket money:
