The Great Big Non-Drone Photo Thread!

Some amazing photos from you all… I wanna get some good things done. @firstadekit how do you get a pic in brum without camera getting stolen.

Not everyone in brum is a mugger mate. :joy:

Stick to busy places or safety in numbers.

Organise a day out with @firstadekit Ade? As he says their not all bad asses but looks like the 2 of you could handle a few Brum Scum to me.

Ha, as long as you don’t mind planning it weeks in advance!

Join a camera club/photographic society in your area, they can be a bit stuck in the dark ages (to the point the one I go to is nowhere near where I live because I’m more interested in being creative than I am in listening to some old fart do a lecture on how he took some photos in a location I’m probably never going to go to, or trying to beat other camera clubs in competitions, especially when I don’t have 30+ years of photo backlog to enter such things) but once you find one that suits you they will often do stuff like walks around Brum and other such places.

Sometimes I’ll even pay a few quid for some organised stuff (saves me spending copious amount of hours scoping out places and then I know where to go in the future)

There’s tons of facebook groups and groups on meetup as well if you want general photography groups.

I gave a talk on how digital was going to take over the genre to my local club in 1998, they wanted to burn me at the stake at the end.

Never went back

They probably still thought they were right for another 5 or 6 years…

With a hobbyists enthusiasm for photography, I j went along to a local camera club a number years ago, after wifey bought me an entry level DSLR camera and kit lens, with the intention of hoping to learn how to use it properly. I lasted 3 meetings. More or less ignored at the first, which I put down to being the new bloke with a different accent to everyone else. Second meeting was a talk roughly how you described above. Third time was an ‘on location’ meet where kit snobbery showed its face. Following some whispers/sniggers/sly looks, a few choice words were said, along with my idea why there didn’t seem to be any young members of the club (I was about 35 at the time and had a good 20+ years on the next youngest). Not gone anywhere near a camera club since.

True.

However they are some cool pics you took there. Impressed.

@Kirky Judging by your new icon selfie Rich, you’ve gone far too far with the diet!:rofl:

12th till the 18th vaguely 5 nights 6 days, was the ex’s birthday  say no more
Then last time I went was may 2018 with my son,
Also a few times prior, I think the best time was going on my own apart from going with my son which has good memories.

:rofl::rofl: I thought yesterday ummmm maybe be a change, yes col I’ve actually thought of changing it back :person_facepalming:t2:

Nah, it looks cool to me, especially with Halloween not far away. :+1:

Stayed in the New Yorker once.

That New Yorkers building always reminds me of Taxi Driver with Robert De Niro

Angel of the North.

Taken with the trusty DSLR (Nikon D500 with Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 lens)

Edited using my usual post processing software (LR, PS & Topaz DeNoise)
